This way, we are able to see how different social situations affect one another which allows for a broadened perspective of the world we live in while separating what affects us personally and what affects the world. This idea can be applied to this assignment by how it was able to influence the way I look at the world. Choosing war as a social problem and dissecting the sources provided allowed a different perspective of how I see the issues of war seen in the perspective of an American versus that of the opposing side. Johnson explains how America has been trapped in a Cold War era perspective that influences their decision making, but this is seen as necessary in protecting American freedom. Although, when seen from the perspective of civilians in Pakistan and Iraq the civilians suffer the consequences of Americans instilling their superpower tendencies in their countries.
