The content was analyzed to find out the power structures in each song and the difference in how individuals of the upper and lower rank identify themselves/others/society. It is found that the narrator in “Royals” is being oppressed due to the influence of popular media and the narrator in “Blank Space” is the oppressor in which she manipulates others and the situation. In addition, it is also found that people from the lower rank identify themselves more or less a “puppet” of the constructs of knowledge and identify others or society as religious followers of these norms. On the other hand, it is found that people of the upper class identify themselves as more superior than others and see others and society as followers of their rules and manipulation.
