After the many deaths due to police brutality, they wanted to come together and try to form a movement that would provide a better life for people of colour. They started the hashtag back in 2012 after the death of Trayvon Martin, but they didn't get much accomplished from it until after another black mans life was taken by a police officer later in 2014. The demands of this movement calls for “an end to the criminalization, incarceration and the killing of black people”. People involved in the #BlackLivesMatter movement are taking a stand for black lives around the world in order to take back their equal rights as humans who have already been through so much in the past. They would like for the government to fix what has been done to black communities, as well as defunding systems that harm black people. They would like for police officers and other law enforcers to have better training on how to properly judge and assess situations in order to make the right call that will not lead to taking the lives of anyone but in particular, black
