Over the years different governments have written reports to try and address health inequalities. These reports include the Black Report 1980, Acheson Report 1998, Our healthier nation 1999, tackling health inequalities: a programme for action 2003, choosing health: making a healthier choices easier 2004 a discussion of each of these will be provided.
The Black report 1980 had declared that having good health was not only down to health it was also health care but also things like sick money, maternity money and benefits. The Black report had a great amount of detail of the extent of which ill health and death were equally distributed within British population, suggestions were made to make better health for people. This report had outlined the inequalities were not mainly attributed to the NHS but rather to many other inequalities such as social inequalities impacting health, income, education, housing, diet, employment and working conditions. The Black report had made recommendations with a wide of verity of social policy measures, to combit inequalities in health.

Our Healthier Nation also stated that good health was not only down to the Government but also down to the individual themselves and how they should be living, they also promoted ten tips for a better health.
