For fourteen years, I been only the child, and then my little sister Gaby was born. As the oldest I am intellectual, and I am expected to help my little sister with her daily needs. I help her with her homework and protect her when we are alone. Sometimes, I have felt the pressure when I had my own things to do like homework, and then I have to pause my things to help my little sister. I don’t have any choice because it is my duty as the oldest to help my little sister. I agree with Dr. Adler’s idea that birth order can influence someone's expectations, personalities, and experiences.

One of the effects is the environment where the siblings grew up. For example, I grew up with my friends and family. As a result, this experience has made me “socially dominant, highly intellectual and extremely conscientious” when it comes to school. Compare to my little sister who grew up with my parents only. I take all my schoolwork deadly serious when it comes to my education. For instance, all my assignments, projects, and deadlines are important to me. In other words, Adler states in his birth order theory, as the oldest I am an enormous perfectionist when it comes to my education. Furthermore, I always strive to be the best in everything I do. In fact, I cannot take a grade of seventy-five and below because I take that as an offense. When I know I can do better in school. A grade like that, it fuels me, it motivates me and it encourages me to be the best. In contrast, Gaby gets overwhelmed in her schoolwork and homework and gives up. She is always expecting for someone to keep pushing her so she can do her work. For example, my parents are always telling Gaby that she needs to complete her schoolwork even if it is her homework. In reality, my mother is always fighting in the evenings with Gaby because she does not want to do her homework. In other words, Gaby mind is like a sponge because she is still young. Every rotten thing that comes out of my mouth, she likes to repeat it. It is my fault that Gaby has learned bad vocabulary. Although, I strive to give Gaby knowledge when it comes to school. Through discipline, I build Gaby comprehension through her homework. I give Gaby skills that she was unable to learn in school. Equipped her with knowledge of reading, writing and math. Through those things, Gaby is going to have success in her life. It is my mission as the oldest so Gaby can have a successful lifestyle. In other words, if Gaby is not successful, she is going to be discipline. She will have her tablet, television and Internet access taken away. Perhaps, as punishment Gaby will get punish by the belt when my methods of discipline do not work.
