Cara you explain the information about birth affects very well. Unfortunately birth affects are very common and can be found before during and after birth. One of the things that may cause a birth effects is a medication called isotretinoin which is used to treat acne. Some of the other causes can be from having someone in your family with a birth affect and the mother being older at age. Some women have babies born with birth affects even though they don't have any risks. I remember my mom having to have test done while she was pregnant with my sister to check for any birth affects because she was around the age of 40. Luckily everything turned out fine.
