Bioquest Assignment

For Bioquest this semester we had to attend an event that was different from our normal activities, an event that would have a wide range of diversity at it. To accomplish this assignment I attended the career fair that the University of Wisconsin Platteville host every year. This career fair took place in Ullsvik Hall and I attended Monday September 28, which was the day for agricultural and biology majors. Since I had to wait five hours till my next class I went to the career fair around one and stayed till the end at two. During this time I learned many different aspects of the workplace world that will help me when I in turn look for a permeant job. I chose the career fair out of all the other seminars and other events for this project

The purpose of this lab is to examine cross sections from the leaves of C3 and C4 plants and to determine the morphological differences between them while relating those differences to their metabolism. In C3 plants the carbon dioxide is first incorporated into a 3-carbon compound. Their stomata are open during the day and photosynthesis takes place throughout the mesophyll cells. In comparison C4 plants, the CO2 is first incorporated into a 4-carbon compound. Their stomata are open during the day and photosynthesis takes place within the inner cells.…

Summary of Activities Outside of our meeting on Sunday October 8th, I spent an hour looking up registration letters online, just to see what other examples are available. I was amazed at how many different registration styles there were. I coordinated with my classmates on clip art for the registration letter and downloaded the sample my professor uploaded for us. I completed the letter and I believe it’s perfect. I can’t wait for everyone to see it also.…

The experiences in the Biology 230 course will certainly continue to influence me in my understand of and how I approach topics in following biology and science courses. The reason why I say this is that the process that information is taught in the lecture course was a bit different from how some other courses would normally be taught. Comparing this course to previously biology and chemistry courses, this course focuses on the why rather than what is the answer. This certainly helps as it makes up need to find a connection to why some is the way it is, which benefits many of the different topics that are taught through the course.…

This week in field was not too busy, but was busy enough to allow me to experience and complete new tasks. Although the tasks completed this week were not very challenging, they allowed me to come in contact with some of the competency skills. Competency skill 9 was re-introduced from last week. I was to report to the Arthurtown site and intern under the supervision of Ms. Julia. Ms. Julia had me continue to sort through employee files; looking for forms any of the teachers may have been missing or needed to update.…

The goal of this experiment was to determine whether is there a significant difference in stomatal densities between young and old leaves or no. The stomatal density of young and old leaves has not significantly different densities. The age of the leaf does not аffect and do not correlate with stomatal density. Because, when the leaf is a baby leaf it makes all the stomata and as leaf growth it just pulls apart from each other. Stomata has an essential rоle in all plаnts.…

law firm internship. An agonizing few days passed as I waited for a reply, and I was ecstatic to learn that I had been chosen for the internship. No words could explain how excited I was but the smile that filled my face said it all. At this internship, I built upon what I learned at Hyde Square Task Force and developed more confidence and determination to succeed in a professional environment. Not only did I take Shakespeare, writing, public speaking, civil rights and art classes, but I also worked in an office, participated in community service events, and visited colleges, which all helped me explore and adapt to different ambiances of the work…

Basic Biology The documents I attached include a lab report, worksheets, notes and one exam. My most memorable experiences in biology were in the lab. I got to test the effectiveness of lactase drops when exposed to solutions containing different pH or temperatures. My results indicated that the lactase enzyme had the optimal catalytic activity at temperatures similar to those found in the human stomach; however, the low pH in the stomach–ranging from 2 to 5– rendered the drops ineffective because the enzymes denatured significantly as the pH was lowered to 5 (WA-COMP-2009.SCI.1.1.6.L).…
