Biopsychosocial model describes the quality of life; health is no longer considered just the absence of illness. It includes the daily intake of vitamins and minerals. How much you exercise and sleep. It differs for people depending on their economic-social status. This is why the model is broken up into the three categories.
Bio- talks about the genetic prediosposions we are affected by. We can't change these only change how they influence our lives. It describes our biochemical make up. How medications affect us. Whether we fight or flight.
Psycho- describes your moods and how they vary from minute, to days, to months. How you behave in situations at home or at school. People’s personalities are different and they …show more content…
If all three of these optimally function together you’ll be healthy individual, physiologically, mentally and emtionally.
How is studying psychopathology relevant to the practice of Chiropractic?
I think it is very important to study and understand psychology to apply it in practice daily while treating patients. I think as a Doctor you need to be able to know the difference between someone who is really struggling and someone who is just voicing their day. People open up to chiropractors when they are being treated, because it’s a very close contact profession. I also think it’s important to see if the pain the patient is experiencing is causing them to suffer from depression and if helping the mechanical issue may alleviate their mental suffering.
What is the most useful thing I have learnt during this course and why?
I couldn’t decide on one factor that’s important because I think so many are.
Mood and anxiety disorder is very important to recognise because this can affect a patients’ day to day living. Learning how to cope with anxiety is very important for these
