Biological psychology is a discipline, it makes very important contribution to the nervous system. I will be briefly going over biological bases of behavior and the mental processes. The first thing I will be talking about is endorphins. The second thing I will be talking about is the sympathetic nervous system, and the parasympathetic nervous system.
The first thing I’m going to talk about is endorphins. Endorphins are produced by the central nervous system. Endorphins act like a morphine, or heroin, they are responsive to things like pain, stress, trauma, and anxiety. They help with any pain you are having, and eventually kick in and do their job. Also endorphins will give you a runner's high, I have experienced this while doing track or

Sympathetic nervous system is part of the autonomic nervous system, it raises your heart rate and blood flow when in an emergency. The sympathetic nervous system will also make your eyes dilate, your mouth will salivate more, and your lungs will increase, and may have sweaty palms as well as the rest of your body. I have had many times when my sympathetic nervous system kicks in, this is when I see snakes, spiders, and also heights. I'm scared to get bit by any spiders or snakes. I hate even looking at them let alone touching them. My house always had spiders and snakes. Then one time I was heading to the basement for my mom to get supper out of the freezer, and It was dark and I stepped on a big three foot black snake. After stepping on the snake I freaked out and ran up stairs, and my heart was racing, I was sweating from being so spooked. My sympathetic system went into play when that event happened. And any time I’m up high somewhere I get nausea, and my heart starts beating fast. Like one time when I was putting up a tin metal roof in carpentry class, it was my first time and I was nervous and scared. The next thing I’m talking about is parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system conserves your energy, while it slows your heart rate down. The parasympathetic nervous system calms your body down when you're in emergency situations. Parasympathetic nervous system will restore your body, to its normal after going after an emergency, your heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure will go back to normal. I have gone through the parasympathetic nervous system when getting hurt, or after seeing something scary like a snake, my body will soon get back into normal process. I used to be scared of storms, until one time we actually had a tornado hit our house. I was scared when it hit, but now every time we have a storm and my heart would

Inside Out A movie “inside out” by pete docter is about how five emotions grapple the control of an 11 year old girl. I realised after watching the movie it's much more than a kids movie. It demonstrates how our mines worked by different types of emotions in this movie, the girl mind was controlled by anger, disgust, fear, sadness and joy. This emotions and many more show how we act and what we show. It shows us that we tend to deal with our emotions that we have experienced by avoiding the bad feelings and the bad problems.…

Chapter 6: Transitions to the world of work In this chapter, the authors insist that the adolescent stage foundation determines and adolescents success in the job market. When I first downloaded the outline to lecture two and saw the tittle “Biological Bases of Behavior” I thought “okay he’s just going to go over all the parts of the brain and tell us a little bit of what the parts do.” The amazing things is that it wasn’t like that at all, I learned so many new and interesting things. One thing that really stood out to me was when he started talking about sensory information and motor information. I thought it was so cool how all the sensory and motor information from the right was processed on the left and how all the sensory and motor information from the left was processed on the right. I find it amazing because you’d think whatever information from the right side would stay on the right side.…

Psychology, which is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes, is research that helps to inform/prove why people act the way they do. There are many reasons to explain questions such as these, but there are seven distinct perspectives that help to demonstrate why. As seen in Laura A. King’s book “The Science of Psychology: An Appreciative View (4th edition)” there are seven contemporary approaches to psychology, that examine questions regarding human behavior.…
