There are two Biases that Gladstone mentions that stands out to the news stories about the same topic and presented the same information. They are Visual and Bad news Bias. For example, in the “Great Refusal” by Brooke Gladstone it states, “News that has a visual hook is more likely to be noticed” (334). What Gladstone means is they are much news out there that will grab our attention. Visual Bias relates to the two news stories. The reason why because just from the tittle of the news it can grab anyone’s attention, even if it’s around someone’s hometown.
Also, in “The Great Refusal” by Brooke Gladstone states “we are wired to care about anything that even remotely threatens us... this makes the world seem more dangerous than it actually is” (331). What Gladstone is trying to say is that news bias can affect us and lead up to feel more or less secure in the places where we go?
