The production department, usually factory manager informs the purchase department about the requirements of materials. The information is passed through the purchase intent issued by factory manager to the purchase manager. In case of regular product like stationary and small purchase, the store in charge issues the purchase intend giving a copy to the factory manager item specification, required quantity, name of the manufacture, approximate costs etc. are mentioned in the purchase intend. The purchase department then enquires with the suppliers and invites quotation.
