I noticed that some of the speakers who were educators almost subconsciously placed the blame more so on the students than on themselves (this certainly isn’t true for all of the speakers, but this applied to at least two of the speakers in my opinion). For the speakers who did not do this, they are emulating a lesson that Mrs. Stacey Beck demonstrated in “Beyond the Blackboard”. I actually found out that this movie was based on a real story that occurred in the late 1980’s. I was able to find some statistics on the dropout rates from 1990 to 2013. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, the average dropout rate for all people of ethnicities has dropped from twelve percent to seven percent between 1990 and 2013.
