Bennet Clark Analysis

In this video olympic swimming athlete Bennet Clark demonstrates a race start with the help of his Cal swim team coach and the laws of physics! Clark’s dive can be related back to Newtons 1st law of motion. This law states that “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and direction, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force” In this video the athlete is at rest when he is first on the starting block. He is being acted upon by normal force between him and the block. When he bends down to pull with all his strength on the block he is creating a tension force between him and the block. He then gets power and pushes off the block with both feet. He is accelerating into the air and being acted upon by an unbalanced force. He is changing his motion and is no longer in constant motion. …show more content…
This law is when a force is being put on an object but it isn't balanced nor equal. When Bennett pushes off the block he is no longer at rest therefore unbalanced forces are acting upon him. Bennett is the object and his mass compared to the block’s mass causes his acceleration to happen when he pushes off the block and into the air. There is also a friction force when he is positioning his feet on the block to move his feet kinetic friction is in action.

In newtons 3rd law “ for every action their is an unequal and opposite reaction” Their isn't an action when Bennet is at rest with his two feet still on the block. However when he pushes off he is making an action occur that is resulting in a reaction, which then causes him to accelerate. However he accelerates at a constant speed still and aa constant. The force of gravity is what causes him to enter the water after being in the

Such as when an accelerating object is moving in one direction, while being affected by a force in the opposite direction. At the top of the hill there are balanced forces because the forces in all directions are equal and therefore there is no motion. Force is a push or pull acting on an object. In this case one example of force in Candy Land is as you are going down the 100 foot drop there is a force pushing you down the hill.…

An applied force is an interaction of one object on another that causes the second object to accelerate or change velocity or direction. This is seen in the lab beacuse the water is so presureized that the water and air blasts out of the rocket causeing the rocket the go that direction and accelerate. This affects the lab beacuse with out the water and air forceing out of the bottom of the rocket the rocket would not go anywhere then beacuse the water and air are forceing agianst the rocket too. Applied forces also cause the rocket too change dircetion to beacuse the air resistance acting on the fins can cause the rocket to veer off beacuse the fins are not atteached and the wind forces the rocket that way. This is ture beacuse when there was some greater wind speeds the rocket would fly backward beacuse the air acts on it also beacuse if we where to remove wind and air resistance the rockets would fly a staright course.…

Newton's second law applies to hitting a baseball, from example when a hitter hits the ball the generated speed of this pitch will be exerted after when it is hit. Most people think you can hit a ball farther when it is lobbed in, but they are actually incorrect. When the ball is coming fast it will be hit faster and farther out. This is proven by Newton’s third law every action has an equal opposite reaction.…

ASTROPHYSICS Methods used to search for extrasolar planets Lucky Ruangsiri 24.02.2016 Extrasolar planets are planets that revolves another star apart from our solar system. The human race has found nearly 2000 confirmed extrasolar planets by the year 2016, and this has fuelled the search for extra-terrestrial life as we scour the universe for anything out there. How do we discover these planets that are light years away from the earth? An extrasolar planet detection technique is the Doppler technique, also known as the wobble method or the radial-velocity method.…

Momentum has a direction. As Monica pushes forward, she pushes Kristin and platform the other way, which causes them to have an extra bit of momentum in the opposite direction. Therefore, if you add all three momenta after the jump, while taking into account the direction, it will equal the momentum before the jump. Ultimately, moving backwards is just as important as moving forward in this…

The main relation with physics is the fact that forces are seen in the action of jumping up and down from it. A force is a push or a pull on a certain object resulting from the object’s interaction with another object, when the interaction stops the two objects no longer have the force acting upon them, with the following formula. ( The Physics Classroom, 1996-2015 ). By this action 3 forces are acting upon the object. • Spring force: Is the force that the mat produces to the person, when the person is jumping.…

This statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object. Newton's Third law of motion states that for every action force, there is a reaction force that is equal in strength and opposite in direction. The catapult arm is pushing up on the elastic bands with a lot of force, but my hand is pushing back, in the opposite direction, making the catapult arm move downwards. Only when I remove my hand and the elastic takes that force and moves the arm up, will you have the greater…

Newton’s three laws are important in car safety. When a car crashes, the passengers and the car it self, slow down quickly, which causes harm to the passengers. A car crash comes with an immense force, because of the quick stop. Newer cars have safety features that soak up the kinetic energy in collisions, which are; seat belts, air bags and crumple zones. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion.…

Newton’s Laws of Motion Have you ever wondered a soccer ball continues to move long after your foot has lost contact? Or why you can coast downhill on a bicycle but going uphill you have to pedal to get to the top? Or maybe you’ve asked, why do we use seatbelts and airbags in cars? All of these seemingly complex questions can be explained by three simple rules called Newton’s Laws. For most, Newton’s Laws call up some hazy memory from childhood.…
