Security for Americans starts at home but stretches beyond our perimeters. Our neighbors need to have a corresponding strategy and technology as we need to protect us from within our borders. We must secure our boundaries without upsetting the flow of goods and people, there must be a significant change to the approach that has been taken in the past. We need to continue with the "guns, guards and gates" model but include intelligence and integration. This concept may require a re-engineering and process transmutation. These endeavors will challenge the Department of Homeland Security to approach this dilemma that has been far exceeding holistically than it has in the past.
