Being apart of the tennis team has taught me many things involving unity. From the first moment of being on the sport, I have met some exceptionally welcoming people who have become some of my best friends. They have greatly influenced me by showing incredible skills on how to cooperate, communicate, and lead. I’ve learned that leadership should not be about one person dictating, it is a group effort, where peers should listen to all ideas in hopes of devising a team proposal. I absolutely love tennis and I am so thankful for my teammates, my coaches, and the opportunity to play the game. This scholarship would be a sincere honor to me as it would validate all my dedication, effort, and true love for the sport. Additionally, this is a significantly

The painting The Tennis Court Oath by Jacques Louis David’s depicts the third estates National Assembly swearing an oath to create a new constitution. Upon first glance, what I initially noticed was the figure in the center, and how the lighting is directly shining on him. He is actively swearing the Tennis Court Oath, and surrounding him are other members of the National Assembly swearing the oath too. The feelings and emotions that are evoked from the painting embraces a sense of unity, as everyone depicted in the painting displays solidarity and enthusiasm in swearing the oath. I believe David was attempting to convey the sheer strength and unity the National Assembly held, and that reflected the intensity of the revolution.…

Tires crunched on the loose gravel parking lot as I was dropped off at my high school’s tennis courts on the first day of school. With my high school requiring a year of physical education, I opted to take the lifetime sport for I was nervous to compete for a spot on the highly competitive teams my school was known for. I was met at the court by 30 other freshmen with a mixed variety of expertise spanning from the first time to ever hold a racquet to a district ranked player. This program displayed a tennis court in side view on an oscilloscope and allowed two players to volley a ball using box-shaped controllers equipped with a knob for trajectory and a button for hitting the ball. Displayed for two seasons at Brookhaven, Tennis for Two proved popular with the public, but was ultimately dismantled so its parts could be re-purposed for other tasks. Higinbotham never considered adapting the successful game into…
