In order to determine the function of the behavior, educators go through the FBA process. This process can be broken into components known as the following: identify and define the behavior, plan the assessment, collect information/data, analyze data, and compose a hypothesis statement. Generally after the FBA process is completed, they start a Behavior intervention plan. One can see that the report on Jason strictly follows this format. For example, the facts given in the “General Information” section is part of identifying and defining the behavior. The team then plans the assessment and collects data on the behavior, which one can see that this is completed under the interviews and the collection data section of the report. This is where the team is collecting data on Jason behavior. Once again, this process is accomplished in order to determine the function of the behavior, since the function is the sources of the students behaving the way he/she does. The team then analyzes the data and put together a hypothesis statement. The report clearly states this component of FBA under the behavioral hypothesis …show more content…
The interview with the parents, student, and teachers promote teamwork, because they were honest. They were all mature about the situation and this lead to the function of Jason’s behavior, and it conclude in the BIP process. This helped the team get a glimpse of Jason’s behavior in both home and school environment and assisted them in creating a plan that benefits Jason in both settings. The collaboration continues in the BIP process because the help of all the community were still involved. The parents were slightly involved in the BIP process; as far as just trying to situate their part in getting Jason his medication. In my opinion, Mr. Bleu should have tried to involve Jason’s parent and sibling more in the BIP process. This way Jason could practice the behavior in both settings. The teacher could include more staff members to participate in the BIP process. For example, make more teachers aware of his disability, so they promote and model desired behavioral.
