Bedroom Observation

Decent Essays
Although the location of my study areas vary, I decided to choose the one where the majority of studying is done which is in my bedroom on the bed. The set up of the area will include surrounding myself with textbooks, two laptaps (one for note taking, the other for research), different colors pens, a notebook, snacks and of course my cell phone. While studying I normally have the television on but its muted. For the purpose of the reaction paper I thought it would be more accurate to have someone observe my actions. Every kid wants to experiment when they are younger. Some of us just seem to make a massive mess when we do it. Of course our parents always tell us that we should be careful not to stain our carpets with anything, and that is where I made my mistake. I was sitting in my room bored with nothing to do. May I remind you that this is not a good thing for a seven year old to be doing.…

For my second personal mini experiment, I chose an exercise from chapter ten that is labeled “Searching for Absorption: Finding Flow in Your School Day.” I chose this personal mini experiment because, with all the technology that is readily available and open for us to use it can be quite difficult finding time to actually sit down to do homework without interruptions. The experiment consists of taking a break from all screen time for two days so, this means no television, and no Internet surfing or instant messaging is allowed during this time period. Day one consisted of me placing my phone on mute and do not disturb mode, only allowing emergency calls or repeated calls from family members through. Secondly, I gathered up all of my due homework and made a list organizing my top priorities, I also put into consideration what tasks would require the use of a computer and I put an estimation of the amount of time I should spend on the internet for these specified tasks.…

Although the sixteen students of Honors Seminar 200-011 are similar in hundreds of ways, our answers to eight basic questions concerning the honors house walk through contained more variations than similarities. Even for simple questions with one correct answer, such as “how many chairs are in the courtyard,” our responses ranged from two to two hundred, and the class debated the definition of a chair. Discussing something as basic as a chair versus a bench versus a couch demonstrates the variety of ways people can interpret each question, no matter how elementary, so even though there are nine chairs in the courtyard, there is no concrete answer. This chair conversation peaked my interest because I had never considered the possibility that…

Overall there were several techniques which I utilized within the group scene in order to make the character of Megs come alive onstage. These included tangible actions, emphasis of different parts of the body, the use of my actor’s tools, as well as several tactics. With all of these elements combined, I feel I delivered a strong performance. To begin, most of my tangible actions revolved around my emotional part of the body. One of the best examples of this was the beer bottle which I would use throughout the scene.…
