The man wasn't wrong; she concocted the drink using the same amber mash that was used in a Southern Smash, but she infused other herbal ingredients -and little magic- into the brew. Stasiland is a non-fiction narrative authored by Anna Funder that entails the life, in East Germany, of both victims and members of the Stasi and the German Democratic Republic (GDR). It explores the life ‘behind the iron curtain’ through personal anecdotes and interviews. Via Funder’s investigation it becomes apparent that only some of the victims of the Stasi have not fully recovered and that many of their inflictions can be attributed to influences other than the Stasi. Anna’s first interviewee, Miriam Weber, was clearly disadvantaged by the Stasi’s involvement in her life and it is clearly obvious that she still hasn’t fully recovered. Miriam “became an enemy of the state at the age of sixteen” and this led her through a traumatic chain…

Before, Alex’s death he carved into a piece of wood stating “Jack London is King”. The carving was found near the site of McCandless’s dead body. This is a coincidence because Alex ended up dying because of journeying into the wilderness and Jack London has portrayed the wild as a horrifying and harmful place. The autopsy report displayed how Alex’s muscles became withered and how his body lost most of its fat content from being in the wild without any supplies. This epigraph proved the dangers and darkness the wild holds and how Alex’s chances of survival was low from the beginning.…
