Becoming A National Achiever

Decent Essays
I would like to become a National Achiever because becoming a one would not only prove to myself but to a lot of other people that if you work hard and try your best even if you don't succeed you should never give up on something that you want to accomplish or achieve in. It would also make me known as a smart African American child which was a thing I always wanted to become known as.Ever since I heard about life back then and also life now and how the whites would discriminate us and judge us base on color, making us think that we're not smart or not smart as an average person and that we were out on this world as a mistake. I wanted to prove them wrong and show them that were just as smart as they are and that we can do the same exact things

While these things have withered the people’s faith in the American Dream, some don’t see things so cynically. The hope some see in the ideal isn’t entirely based on truth, however, as many choose a positive outlook despite the reality. Some see the rising number of people, both young and old, heading to colleges for higher education as signs that citizens are still trying to attain a better life, but this doesn’t consider what awaits them once they have a degree in their hands. Like hundreds of times before, I entered the dimly lit restroom connected to the cafeteria of my elementary school; but, instead of exiting the restroom, after washing my hands, I caught a glance of my reflection.…
