Case One provides the situation of a ten-year old boy exhibiting inattentive behavior within the classroom and receiving low grades. It is unknown if this behavior is shown only within the classroom or within other environments as well. The parents of the boy stress his intelligence, and that there is no history of head trauma or severe mental disorders present within their son. To gain background knowledge on the child’s daily life and environment, I would have a consultation with the parents, child, and teacher. I would use this time to learn about the child’s diet, sleep schedule, amount of exercise, culture, peers, and home life.
