Sustainability and Profitability of small businesses in the Salon Industry
Problem Statement
Small beauty salon businesses account for 308, 111 establishments in the U. S. in 2017 (U. S. Beauty Salons Industry Report, 2017). Forty-nine percent of business owners fail to succeed beyond 5 years (U. S. Small Business Administration [SBA], 2014). The general business problem is that some small business owners have limited strategies to sustain profitability beyond 5 years. The specific business problem is that some small business owners lack strategies to increase customers’ retention for their business beyond 5 years.
