This art work took three weeks to cut, and was specially made for the museum. It consists of two panels thirteen ft. high, and it was installed on two different floors of the museum. She said that she gave it the name of “Heavens and Hells” because she was thinking about various philosophers’ concepts. Such concepts were about free will and human responsibility. This artwork is meant to symbolize how some are born is hells, and others are born in heavens, but they make their own paths and make the opposite trip. Even though both panels are in different floors, there is no border in between. That is what makes it special, those in hell can pass to heaven, and those in heaven can pass to hell. This artwork makes an special connection with how her life was. She was studying on a way that she did not like. After dropping out of school she worked many jobs that gave her different experiences. This artwork has the story of a spider that spins a bilingual alphabet. In the artwork you can read the words “architecture” and “active”. This was meant to represent the how English and French are similar, to the point that they share some words. We must take into consideration that her native language is French, and the language that she adopted is English. Making her love both of them, and finding similarities between the two languages. This is a way of expressing her feelings for both languages, the two cultures they represent, and two great nations.
