I stand with the 71% of Utahns that support the designation of Bears Ears National Monument including the Ute Mountain Ute, Uintah Ouray Ute, Navajo, Hopi, and Zuni Tribes. Not only would the Bears Ears Proposal protect almost 2 million acres of land sacred to many Tribes, but it would also stimulate the economy and sustain small businesses in the surrounding areas.
I attended both the special hearing and the special legislative session on Bears Ears in support of the protection of this beautiful land. I also met with representatives of the Ute Tribe, who spoke to me of their love for this land and how important it was for it to be protected.
The president has the authority to designate national monuments
