After completing six and a half innings, we head into the bottom of the final inning as the Aquinas Blugolds are ahead of Lake Country Lutheran 4-2. As a young child around the age of 5, I started playing baseball, and just like almost every little boy or girl, I always had that dream about making the game-winning shot in basketball or making that diving catch to win the state championship in baseball. My dream was almost fulfilled on June 18th, 2015. The season started in March and went all the way until June. At the beginning of the season, I wasn’t sure how much playing time I would get. It turned out that I would only play in the field when my brother, Alex, pitched. Luckily for me, that was usually every game in the 6th or the 7th …show more content…
That was the longest time that I ever sat on the bench for baseball in my entire career. The 2 weeks pass and now we have our health line up full and healthy which ment Alex was back in the pitching rotation, and therefore I was able to play as well. Now we are getting into play-offs and we 10-run both teams in regionals to make it to sectionals. We made it to sectionals and 10-run both of those teams as well, only allowing 2 runs in all of the 4 play-off games we have played. We make it to state in Appleton. Our first game we play is against Marathon. We didn’t hear much about this team other than they had a lefty pitcher who threw low to mid 80 miles per hour, which is relatively fast for high school baseball. We got into the 6th inning, and we are ahead 12-2. The coaches tell Alex that he needs to get ready to pitch, which also means that I need to get my arm loose to play second base. Alex went into the game and had a 1,2,3 inning, so he retired the guys in order, ending the game and sending us to the state final to play Lake Country

Baseball: the sport where you stand around for 20 minutes and move 3 feet to the left and move 3 feet to the right. It’s so intense. It’s so intense that you could take a nap on the field with everything out there. Of course, I’m being sarcastic. The only time it’s actually fun is when you’re annihilating the other team while they’re asleep on the field.…

I flew around the field and made plays, while backing it up in the batters box with my bat. My performance was sufficient enough to be extended an invite to the Area Code Games! I was ecstatic when I received my invite and celebrated with my family, and throughout the excitement, I knew my work wasn't done. I can remember arriving to the field to meet my team in Long Beach and seeing Palm trees in the outfield and a Fresh-off-the-press New Balance bag with all of my assigned gear in it. I knew then that my work had payed off and that experiencing that failure in the summer of 2015 was the fuel I used to get here.…

If I was like eight years old and took me all over the place to play baseball I probably would be throwing really hard but, I would quit because, of the pressure to be the best of the best all the time and get no break. I would quit just for the break and to have my life back.…

My first baseball game ever had been off to a tremendous start; until my next at bat. After my first at bat, I was riding my high horse thinking I was going to get another hit and make my dad proud all over again. I stepped into the white caulk batter’s box, and went through it all again. As the pitch came in, I noticed it seemed to be coming towards me instead of down the middle. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I stayed right where I was; and got…

“Alright now Skin, I need you to be my leadoff here and get a rally going!” I do not respond, because I obviously know how important this one at bat is for the team and for myself. One thing coach loves doing, making sure I know how much I am accountable for. There is no comment to explain to me of how dependent I am on these upcoming moments for the team, so don’t make it any worse. To start off and to have the power to set the tone of the whole inning.…

If there was one thing I was used to by now, it was that whenever something didn’t go well for me on the baseball field, the future holds green pastures only if I go looking for it. So sure enough, after that loss, I set my eyes ahead to the next season. That final season we had a great start, winning a lot of games, but we ended up barely making the playoff as somewhat of an underdog. We didn’t think about anything that was at stake, we simply played our game all the way to the championship game without a loss in the playoffs. We won the first game of he series and were winning for the majority of the second game.…

I also dwell upon having to play first base where the dirt was so hot that would feel as if my cleats were melting to my feet. Our field had taken so much punishment from our two-a-day practices that any minute the baseball could take a bad hop and “eat up” an infielder. However, all of the hard work, pain, sweat, and suffering paid off in the end, we were in the state championship game for a second year in a…
