Sports have become America’s past time that is enjoyed by millions of people either watching a professional sport on television or recreation playing. These two sports I have followed from the time my children started playing at the ages of seven. Basketball and baseball though they have numerous similarities, they also contrast.
Baseball Differences
Baseball is a sport that can be played outside only on a field, which is shaped comparable to a diamond. Weather can be a factor if a game will continue, especially when it rains. Even though there can be many players on the team, only nine players can be on the field using gloves to catch the ball and bats to hit the ball. Players on opposing teams are required to wear uniform numbers on the back of their uniform, sleeve length undershirts (all the same color of their teammates), pants cannot be attached to the bottom of shoes, no images or pattern that resembles a shape of a baseball can be on the uniforms. Each sport is predominately played by males, even though women have now proven that they can play the sports also. Instead of baseball, high school and college women athletes play softball, which is played with different rules. Both sports require each team to wear the same uniform with a number and their last name on the back. Normally both sports have their team wear two different uniforms, one uniform for home games and another one for away games. Both basketball and baseball are professional sports that pay athletes a ridiculous amount of money. According to Moneynation.com, the minimum salary of a basketball player is $525,000 with the medium of $2.5 billion per year. MLB player’s salary averages over $4 million dollars a year and gets $100.00 a day for meals when on the road, according to the Associated Press
