H.), Maslow was well educated he attended schools such as, Columbia University, Cornell University, University of Wisconsin and City College of New York. Abraham Maslow developed the theory of motivation, which is defined as a process that arouses, maintains and guides behavior toward a goal (pg. 18). For example, when people become thirsty they become motivated to seek for water to quench their thirst (pg. 219). Another example is when you become hungry we get motivated to seek for food. We as human beings have inborn, natural instincts that motivate us under certain circumstance when our survival is at risk. Motivation is a driving force to accomplish a direct mission without delay. Motivational mechanisms allow animals to become aroused only when needed such as when the need to eat, after replenishment then arousal decreases because the need has been fulfilled. Motivation pushes beyond our expectations to get things done that could not happen without motivation. Maslow believed that all people have needs to be met in order to be satisfied. He assumed that these needs could be arranged according to their importance in order of steps called Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (pg. 247).Common criticism occurred on Maslow’s theory due to the lack of scientific research. But because of his prestigious status and backing it was overlooked and just because the scientific research wasn’t done properly does not mean it wasn’t true. His theory on motivation was a leading cause on cultural change during the 1960’s. Maslow belief was that the general needs of people must be satisfied before advancing to higher needs within his hierarchy still our present today with modern
