The artwork is filled with symbolic gestures which are able to communicate their own story to the viewer these include empty booze bottles, fag butts, stained sheets and worn panties. The objects suggest activities undertaken by the artist deemed as disgraceful and disgusting. However through these disgusting sights the artist is able to engage the user.
However the most controversial part of the exhibit was the bed itself. The bed is considered to be one of the most intimate parts of a person’s life. The piece is laid down in a way as if someone has just stepped out of the bed. Further by leaving the silhouettes formed on the bed through her body, Tracey Emin further exaggerates the intimacy of the piece. Thus the work of both Tracey and Ayesha are successful in engaging the audience by putting forward a glimpse of personal and private life. Both artist give priority to the display of personal life and have no shame in displaying it. While Tracey displays her imperfect self portrait with utmost boldness, Ayesha takes pride in feminizing the jet
