There is romance, historical, non-fiction, science fiction, and many others. A genre is grouped together when there is something similar between the different books or movies. No matter what genre someone looks at there is something that catches their eyes and makes them like it. A genre that has a lot of eye-catching characteristics is science fiction. This makes it possible to guess what is going to happen in the future. Science fiction does not only happen in the future, it can happen in the past and even the present. People don’t know all the events that happened in the past because not a lot of these events were recorded or saved. Because there are so many gaps in history people don 't know anything about, writers can use their imaginations to guess what had happened. The past also comes into effect with science fiction in the present and the future. History is made up of so many different events. This makes it possible to change little events, and it also makes it possible for writers to guess and play with what would happen if those events had not occurred. With the ability to guess and play with what could happen or what will happen makes for a very interesting history and future. People debate on when the first science fiction story was made. Some say that it was the legends and myths from ancient Greece and Rome. The stories that were told were made to explain the actions and events of nature and other unexplainable events. The stories ranged from monsters to the gods, and to demigods. The stories were used to explain the history and reasoning behind the natural disasters of the time. The start of science fiction is a hard thing to pinpoint because people don 't always agree on what eh first science fiction stories was. From the stories and legends of Greece and Rome to the book Frankenstein even if people can’t decide on the beginning they can still agree that science fiction is a topic that has been around for awhile. There are a lot of different ways writers can write science fiction because there are so many possibilities that are unexplored. With all of these possibilities, many things can be changed to make a story science fiction.
