Learning more about my family and completing this assignment has been an interesting task for several reasons. I come from a blended family as both of my parents are remarried. I also have one half-sister from my father’s previous marriage. However, for this autobiography, I will discuss three generations from my maternal and paternal family.
Haik Family My three-generational family includes my paternal grandparents, Charles and Winnie Haik, my maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Elise Lee, and my parents, Charles Haik and McCall Ainsworth. My parents divorced in 1994, which is the explanation for different last names. My father remarried a few years after the divorce, however, my mother got remarried in 2005. I remember life being easy and peaceful. Other than that, I do not remember too much about these years. I only know what people have told me. Apparently, my parents spoiled me at this time. My half-sister, Heather Haik, told me that my father would get me anything I wanted when we went to the store. My parents were married during my early childhood years. They did not get divorced until I was five.

Also, I am single with no children. Thus, I am still maintaining the rules of my family of origin, such as being respectful to others and having proper manners. Having respect for others, especially my elders, is a rule I was taught at a young age by both sides of my family. If I ever disrespected anyone, I immediately got punished. I remember getting spanked and grounded when I was little for disrespecting an elder by saying an ugly word to them. Having respect is a rule I would like keep for my own family in the future. Another rule in my family is to have manners, especially table manners. I used to get in trouble all the time for eating with my mouth open or not having my napkin in my lap. This rule is still present within in my family today. My mother said something to me the other day about not having a napkin in my lap at the dinner table. This is also a rule I want to use with my own family someday. Another rule, rather tradition, we have on my mother’s side is to go on vacation together each summer. I know this does not sound like a rule, however, it is a rule in our family. This rule allows us to spend time together without having the drama that comes with the holidays. We usually get a condo together in Destin, Florida or Gulf Shores, Alabama. I think these rules helped me grow into the strong woman I am
