A large sum of the people diagnosed with autism excel in academics, visual dexterity, and music. Infact forty percent of Autistic individuals posses average or above average intellectual capabilities. There have been many people with this disorder, that have used it to their advantage and have become successful. People like Daryl Hannah (actress), Susan Boyle(singer), and Dan Aykroyd(actor/writer), were all diagnosed as children. Though like all things in life there is the good and the bad. The remaining sixty percent hold below average intellectual abilities, usually have a more severe case of the disorder. Just the tiniest gene mutation could render the child Autistic. Although most cases of Autism are due to a combination of “at risk” genes and the environment in which influence the brain's development. That goes to show that it isn’t just the parents genetic coding that assist the passing of the disorder. Studies have shown that the parents, environmental stress amidst conception and birth can magnify the chances of the baby being born with Autism as well. Some of the involving factors of environmental stress may be caused by the age of the parents, maternal illness while pregnant, particularly those pertaining to oxygen deprivation. Although these are contributing factors when mixed with genetic coding that aid the chances of the baby being born with autism, they aren’t the primary reason for the disability. Scientist suggest for mothers to take prenatal vitamins that contain folic acid or eat foods high in folic acid to help dwindle the risk of having a baby with the
