Self-Assessment
In the utilization of the Leadership: Theory and Practice text, five self-assessment instruments were employed to identify individual skill sets in relation to leadership. The scaling question instruments used were as follows; the Perceived Leader Integrity Scale, the Skills Inventory, the Leadership Trait Questionnaire, the Authentic Leadership Self- Assessment Questionnaire, and the Path-Goal Leadership Questionnaire. After reviewing the results of the instrument it would appear that there is inclusion of guidance, nurturance, shared decision making, and challenging behaviors as a practitioner and leader. As a child welfare supervisor, due to the high percentage of turnover there is significant need to direct what should be done for children and families, and for those that are seasoned workers there is a need to challenge what they know about practice in order to improve the system of care and outcomes. All the while ensuring that when circumstances become overwhelming that workers feel supported, families are included in the process, and decisions are made in the best interest of children.
