1.1 Common unethical issues found in an organisation First of all, one of the common unethical issues is employee is sleeping when he or she is on duty (Allnurses 2014). Employee must perform his or her duty rather than sleep during working hours. This unethical behavior is found in Austral Amalgamated Tin Sdn. Bhd. Sithambaram, one of the employees of Austral Amalgamated Tin Sdn. Bhd had been found sleeping while on duty. As a result, Sithambaram was dismissed by his employer (Universiti Sains Malaysia 2014). Appendix 3 shows the details of the case.
In addition, lack of sympathy is also one of the common unethical issues. Wal-Mart which is the number one in the world had been found out that lack of sympathy to his workers. In 2000, Mrs. Shank entitled to get some money as compensation from Wal-Mart because she suffered permanent brain damage. After six years, the company sued Mrs. Shank because she used the remaining money to put in special trust to care for Mrs. Shank. As a result, Wal-Mart won this case (Hynes 2011). However, in my opinion, Wal-Mart treats his employees as merchandise and its sometimes unethical behavior. Mrs. Shank very disappointed because the employer did not understand her pitiful situation. Once the organization is doing something violating the law or harming others, whistleblower may take action to the organization with witness. For the organization’s view, whistleblower may framed as a disloyal act, but for whistleblower himself, he is just telling the truth to the public, regardless of his individual outcome.
