Auditing In Residential Care

An audit in the healthcare setting is a process used by the health care professionals in assessing, evaluating and improving the care of every patient in a systematic manner (Benjamin, 2008). Audit measures the current practice against a desired standards and procedures of an organization. It forms to be part of the clinical governance whereby it aims to protect a high quality of clinical care of every patient. Thereby, an audit and evaluation of every organization are important. As the author added that, there is no particular ‘right’ auditing or evaluating, but, questions may come up over in a certain program or organization that may be needed to ask at any point. In New Zealand, an audit for certification is mandatory for all health facilities in accordance with the Health and Disability Services (Safety) Act 2001 in providing quality of services to aged residential care and rest homes for the safe provision to the residents.
