World War II ended with one of the most controversial decisions in recent history: the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At the end of the war, the only Axis power left fighting was Japan. President Harry S. Truman made the decision to drop the bomb which resulted in the end of the war. In order for the casualties of the American forces to not skyrocket even more than they had already, the raid, and eventually the atomic bombs, became a military necessity. To begin, the American powers and the Japanese had already had a pretty dense history before the bombs. Japanese was expanding like wildfire.
