Playing games for a living isn't worth those million-dollar wages, says Jesse Spector, a sports writer for The Sporting News. People such as firefighters, doctors, and members of the military provide more valuable services but earn just a fraction of what professional athletes make. Many sports enthusiasts would probably take the side of arguing that athletes deserve the pay they receive due to the monetary revenue they bring in from playing their sport as well as the difficulty of reaching the professional level in sports.

In many cases, athletes are overpaid. So would you want to be a famous professional athlete or wold you rather save lives in many different ways, it’s your
