Asteroid Impact Theory Of Dinosaur Research

Dinosaurs, a dominating specie living in the Earth long time ago, extinct mysteriously. Paleontologists and scientists have established a variety of possible theories to explain. However, all these theories are still debatable. There are four main possible explanations: Asteroid Impact, Volcano Eruption, Falling Tide and

Asteroid Impact theory was established by Luis Alvarez in 1980.Many plants and animals were disappeared abruptly from the fossil record as one moves from layers of rocks documenting the end of the Cretaceous up into rocks representing the beginning of the Cenozoic. Between the last layer of Cretaceous rock and the first layer go Cenozoic rock, there is often a thin layer of clay. Scientists thought that calculate the amount of iridium in the clay could find how many time were needed to create the layer. Luis realized that sedimentary layers found all over the world at the Cretaceous–Paleogene boundary contain a concentration of iridium many

Joerger Fall is the founder of this theory. Fall is a astrophysicist and he suggested that the Earth was threaten by the comics particle storm sixty million years ago. When the Earth faced the particle storm, the speed of particles which attended into the Earth would be much faster than ever and because of that, the original particles in the atmosphere were ‘laniated’ to form the condensation nucleus which is the key to rain. The consequence of this phenomenon was the increasing thickness of the atmosphere. The globe precipitation increased dramatically and the temperature lower down abruptly. Dinosaurs could not adapted this situation and extinct.(Joerger Fall(2011), Science Illustrated Magazine, Germany)

To sum up, these are the main four theories to account for the dinosaurs extinction. Although the truth of dinosaurs extinction has not been proved, I believe people can solve this question in the future because the highly developed science and

We have travelled to the Morrison formation which is dated to be 150 million years old and the rocks have grain of sizes between clay-sized and 1mm. The Morrison formation has inconsistent lateral thickness as it has thick layers and goes down to thin layers and has tightly compressed sediments. To why we believe the place was roamed with dinosaur as the Morrison formation is deposited near a flooded river or lake which have soft soil for dinosaur to implant dinosaur prints and the site itself is giving out radioactive which is from carnotite decays to uranium as the dinosaur bones are deposited with this element because its porous property, thus letting the ground water to passed through it. The Morrison formation have minerals such as hematite, quartz and clay and due to the iron and copper found in the formation, it causes paleosoil, a red-and-mauve-colored mudstone, to form in the middle section. The main event for the Morrison formation is the regression of sea level.…

A group of researchers from all over the world are planning to drill core samples from the famous dinosaur asteroid crater, the, to help them in the adventure to study the evolution of life on Earth, as well as how the crater was made. The team will drill 5,000 feet down into the crater, which is thought to be at least 65-million years old, dating back to the start of the extinction of the dinosaurs. Most now believe that the asteroid that caused the crater was the cause of the dinosaur extinction. This adventure to drill into Chicxulub Crater to get the core sample is expected to cost $10 million and is led by two scientists: Joanna Morgan from Imperial College in London, and Sean Gulick from the Austin Institute of Geophysics at The University of Texas.…

“Sex, Drugs, Disasters, and the Extinction of Dinosaurs” is an essay authored by Stephen Jay Gould, professor of geology and zoology at Harvard. Gould does a masterful job of catching your attention right away with his title, then taking you on a journey exploring how we can differentiate what is attention-grabbing nonsense and what is valid science. In his essay, Gould explores scientific proposals for the extinction of dinosaurs. This is a question that humanity has pondered for thousands of years, and many speculations have been made. Gould outlines what theories fall into “good” and “bad” science and then explains how he uses the scientific data to build a case for solid, evidence-based theory.…

One of the main thing scientist think killed the dinosaurs was meteors because of how they hit earth and In North America, a towering tsunami buried plants and animals alike under thick piles of rubble. Lofted debris darkened skies around the world. The planet chilled — and stayed that way for years.…

Gould briefly and adequately explains a theory that much of the world already knows and believes. Although the theory mentions inconceivable terrestrial catastrophes, it is the most widely proven and studied. Additionally, the space-produced calamity is the most popular and accepted rationale. Despite the array of more amusing and easygoing theories, the disaster theory is the most plausible. Gould highly praised the disaster theory calling the hypothesis “exciting, fruitful science”…

    Dryas Impact Hypothesis

Following the last glacial maximum, at the end of the Pleistocene, there was a period of rapid change in the earth system (Björck, S. (2007)). This included; the onset of the younger Dryas cold reversal, which saw the return of glacial like conditions across the northern hemisphere and megafaunal extinction, where 35 genera of large mammals became extinct across North America (Firestone et al., 2007). One possible explanation for this change is the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis (YDIH), which proposes that an extra terrestrial (ET) object hit the earth 12,900 years ago (Firestone et al., 2007), which would have killed the megafauna near the impact zone, weakened the Laurentide ice sheet, which was covering the majority of North America, discharging…

The texture of fossilized bones allows us to interpret the growth of a dinosaur. Evidence of growth is identified through growth series and modern day comparisons. With growth series, in regards to fossils, a dinosaur’s growth can be examined through a sequence of younger and older fossilized bones to show the process of bone growth of specific dinosaur fossils. With modern day comparisons of animal growth to dinosaur growth, Paleontologists can make hypotheses on how a dinosaur grew through the knowledge of thermoregulation through ectothermy or endothermy. Scientists can make hypotheses on whether or not a dinosaur was an endotherm or an ectotherm, by looking at the environment a dinosaur lived in or by examining the diets of dinosaurs in…

I strongly concur that the main reason why the dinosaurs became extinct was because some kind of disaster occurred. I agree with the disaster theory because, if you really think about it, a disaster is the only logical theory that makes sense as to why the dinosaurs vanished from earth. In addition, there have been several studies to prove that disasters are what caused the dinosaurs to become…

    Dragons Or Dinosaur Myth

Another theory can be that people saw dinosaurs or unearthed dinosaur bones. The notion that people have seen these creatures is highly unlikely, due the fact that humanity could have never walk the Earth at the same time as dinosaur. Dinosaur roomed the Earth approximately 235 million years ago, becoming extinct some 65 million years ago. The earliest recorded dragon legend was around 5,000 years ago. In Dragons or Dinosaur: creation or evolution, author Darek Isaacs (2010), he (and other researches) speculates that it may have been not the experience of real dinosaur that prompted the appearance of the dragon myth, but rather the misidentification of the fossilized remains of ancient dinosaurs.…
