Summary:
Chapter 2 is defined as Assistive Technology to Support Writing. The chapter begins with background information referring to the writing process and the difficulties of students with learning disabilities may face when writing. The chapter then goes on to detail assistive technologies can support the writing process at each stage.

The chapter provides suggestions for each stage of the writing process and for a variety of levels within each stage. The various forms of assistive technology are discussed in terms of their limitations as well as their benefits. This chapter also makes the connection between assistive technology and students receiving the teaching, training, time required to become comfortable using technology.

I'm thinking of our our Knowledge and Employabilities streams here in Alberta. As educators we are experiencing a wide range of academic ability in this stream; have some students in high school who perform at a grade 2/3 level, even providing them with a chance to edit their work can be problematic with the software we provide. We are also somewhat limited to the assistive technology services we offer our students for a number of reasons: the school board idea of what technology is most beneficial to students; the experts we currently have in the field in those areas, i.e. Google based; the comfort level of educators in terms of assistive technology. The struggle comes with learning about the levels of each student, what assistive technologies they have used
