Even though Brookdale provide one the best nursing care, but recently Brookdale had been experiencing many critical incidents which involved wrongful death, horrific assault by the resident’s roommate, staff overmedicating patient, staff refused to perform Cardio Pulmonary Rescue for a dying resident, negligence and sexual assault. Because of poor supervision, a resident died twenty-five feet away from the facility (Dolmanlaw.com, 2016).
When it comes to assisted living industry Brookdale is all above, but they are from perfect. The organization has been involved in several cases. According to (Dolmanlaw.com, 2016) in 2013, Brookdale got sued because of a wrongful death plus elderly abuse when one of their resident was left unattended at facility in California while she was ill; staff member noticed an ulcer on the resident’s back but failed to notify a nurse or doctor to assist the resident in time. This organizations come together to establish what is called Assisted Living Sector Healthcare Policy Research Fund. This essential project put more services in the senior living that would lower the need for Medicare services (Brookdale, 2015). The main goal is to affect the senior community socially, politically, economically, and clinically. If such collaboration become and stay successful, it may influence policy makers to become more assertive in preventative care than increasing costs on services or making budget cuts. The recent mergers have allowed Brookdale to develop innovations that will not only secure its spot as the number one in the senior living. Another important outcome they will benefit is a reduced number of adults
