Art Assignment 1: Art work description

This piece of work is known as abstract artwork because of its unique use of colors, lines, and shapes. In abstract there are also no wrong or right answers because it requires you to be opened minded and to explore your own meaning of the artwork. This art was made with curvy, straight, pointy, and zigzag lines. With shapes such as triangles, circles, squares, and other unfamiliar shapes. There is a variety of colors that is used to make this art work standout like blue, purple, pink, green, orange, red, and yellow. The colors on this artwork are also blending with light and dark colors to dull the surface. At first I seen nothing but shapes, colors, and lines but then I looked at the artwork closely

All of the reviews are of work from the past year all from the Portland area. Each author cited previous art movements and artists to enhance their stance on the work of the new artist. This gives more artistic credit to the new artists work since it follows historical traditions yet finds new perspectives. “The task of therapy is not to eliminate suffering but to give a voice to it, to find a form in which it can be expressed. Expression is itself transformation; this is the message that art brings. The therapist then would be an artist of the soul, working with sufferers to enable them to find the proper container for their pain, the form in which it would be embodied.” Stephen K. Levine. Art therapy is becoming a strong alternative to “regular” talk therapy because it allows for another channel to be reached in an individual.…

Both of the art form and the medium is drawing. What I see in this type of art piece is a hunter trying to trap a bear into a trap, or a hunter becoming a bear’s friend and his hands up in the air because he’s glad that the bear accepted him as a friend instead of eating him. The objects that I see in this artwork is an old guy, and an animal. I can tell that he’s and old guy because of how much hair he has on his head and his mustache and how his hand is bent into an odd shape. The bear is just easier to recognize because of the outline and he has some claws and his face is just shaped like a bears.…

Le Mayeur uses expressive brush strokes with prompt movements to bring out the energy and vibrancy of the festival scene, where it is almost as if the movements in the painting were brought to life, and one can almost feel the atmosphere and imagine being a spectator of the Balinese dancers through the portrayal of the light and textures. He uses two different techniques of painting in the foreground and background respectively to create pictorial depth. This can be seen in the rich and vivid details and outlines of the figures in the foreground, in contrast to the thinly layering of soft shades that fade away in the background. This depth creates a picturesque feel of the Bali scene that Le Mayeur wishes to portray.…

In addition, art is liberating more than mystifying because when I went to the art museum in Washington D.C, the National Gallery of Art. Going into the East building where the modern art was located, seeing the huge space and objects that were in the museum was relaxing. I went to the museum with my parents and they were just looking around the art pieces in the museum as I did and enjoying their time in the museum. As we all looked to the art pieces, we observed and had our own interpretation of the pieces, it relaxed our minds and it took us away from the stress that was happening in our everyday lives. Which why I find art more liberating than mystifying.…
