UF has many different programs to address cultural diversity, one of these programs is Gatorship. Gatorship program has been around the campus for over 15 years allowing students the opportunity to join this retreat type program. This program is setup for up to 60 people and student staff teams. These teams interact through activities to learn more about living in a multicultural society. These teams eventually will serve as peer leaders in educating about being multicultural (UF, 2016). This program is sponsored by the MDA, and encouraged by the Student Affairs office. Martin Luther King (MLK) is a program on the UF campus that celebrates the leader on MLK day. This celebration is campus wide, and has many activities for a weeklong celebration. The program states “This is not a black holiday; it is a peoples' holiday. And it is the young people of all races and religions who hold the keys to the fulfillment of his dream." (Coretta Scott King, N/A) (UF, 2016). There are plans and programs in place for teaching students and faculty about being multicultural sensitive, these programs are there for helping everyone on campus to understand others thoughts, and beliefs. The university has one of the biggest melting pots of students and faculty in Florida, the campus understands that it is important to welcome all these races and genders to learn, and thrive on campus.
