Aspro Clear Experiment

Improved Essays
It is essential for pharmacists to be able to predict the theoretical rate kinetics of pharmaceutical products in order to determine its shelf life. As the shelf life is defined by (t90), which is the availability of greater or equal to 90% of the drug, it is important to discover the rate of degradation of a drug to ensure that the patients receive an adequate dose of the drug. In this experiment, the stability of the active ingredient of Aspro Clear is investigated to identify the rate of degradation at different temperatures, to determine the optimum temperature for the storage of medications like Aspirin.
First order reaction is classified as a reaction that is dependent or directly proportional to the concentration of a single reactant.

General procedure: One equivalent of spacer was coupled using 2.4 equivalents of inhibitor, 0.18 equivalents of copper sulfate, 0.36 equivalents of (+)-sodium-L-ascorbate, in a mixture of 10% H2O in DMF, 24 mL/mmol spacer. The mixture was placed in the microwave for 30 minutes at 80oC Pro6 Spacer (10) (30 mg, 0.036 mmol) and 18 (36 mg, 0.087 mmol) were dissolved in 778 µL DMF. Copper sulfate (1.62 mg, 0.006 mmol) and sodium-L- ascorbate (2.57 mg, 0.013 mmol) were dissolved in 86 µL H2O. The two solutions were combined in a microwave tube and put in the microwave for 30 minutes at 80oC. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure.…

For this experiment, a few scientists are researching how different flavors/colors of sports drinks effect the amount of red 40 dye in each drink. The independent variable in the experiment is the flavors of Gatorade (a brand of sports drinks) used, while the dependent variable is the concentration of dye the sports drinks contain. The constant variable is the spectrophotometer, the amount of liquid used, and the same type of cuvette. The controlled variable is only using water. In order to determine which drink would have the greatest concentration of red 40 dye, the scientists must first understand what it actually is.…

Under the guidelines of the FASB, a company must be accountable for any type of income that whether it be incurred or paid out to another person or persons. One of the guidelines that focuses especially on the issue of income tax liability is ASC740-10. According to an article taken from Brewer, both types of companies whether they be profit or non profit entities are all susceptible to this particular guideline and must adhere to the standards which are set forth regarding tax liabilities and how these companies should report them in a proper manner. In order for a company to be fully accurate regarding its tax status, it needs to take into consideration all forms of financial activity that have taken place over the course of each year including:…

The purpose of the experiment was about recrystallization of crude ASA from crude ASA, then analyze the yield and melting point of Recrystallized product, test for Purity of Recrystallized ASA by using thin layer chromatography and analysis of Recrystallized Acetylsalicylic Acid by Spectroscopy to compare these results with another experiment about creating an Aspirin from Salicylic Acid. In this experiment, 0.1241 gram of Recrystallized ASA was produced from 1.1754 gram of Crude ASA and the yield of reaction is 10.56%. This yield is lower than the yield by creating an Aspirin from Salicylic Acid because the crystallized product is purer because we did not add another chemical in. For the melting point of recrystallized ASA, Mel-temp was used…

The reagents, p-aminophenol and acetic anhydride, were synthesized into acetaminophen by utilizing a hot plate and catalytic acid. Additional measures were taken throughout the synthesis in order to ensure the purity of the acetaminophen. These measures included using suction filtration and recrystallization which also reinforced previous laboratory experience. After one week of drying in the laboratory drawer, the acetaminophen was assessed for purity through calculating the percent yield, gathering the melting point range and determining major peaks from the IR spectrum. The overall percent yield was 32.5% which was below the desired 100% yield.…

Purpose The question being explored in this experiment is how temperature affects the rate of reaction of Alka-Seltzer, or effervescent tablets. The purpose of this is to see whether hotter temperatures or cooler temperatures cause the reaction to be quicker. Effervescent tablets are used to orally distribute medicine for patients and consumers (Laboratories SMB). By adding the tablets to water, the medicine is released into the solution, allowing the consumer to easily drink the solution and take the drugs needed for their health (Haack & Köberle).…

Limiting reactants occur in a reaction when one of the reactants runs out and there is excess of another reactant. It is important to understand limiting reactants because it allows us to adjust the amount of chemicals we need to create a product without having excess chemicals. On October 5, 2017, we completed a lab in which we determined which chemical was the limiting reactant in a reaction by adding each chemical to the excess chemical and observing which formed a precipitate. II. Data, Results, and Evidence…

As mentioned before, drugs are perishable products even though the expiry date is long. Inventory management of those is difficult and pharmacies know how many types of medicines (and units) they can sell and adjust their orders. However, a prescription drug is different. Doctors prescribed it to patients and pharmacies sell according to this. Different manufacturers create the same core ingredient in those drugs, leading to a competition influenced by lobbying.…

In a chemical equation, there are the reactants, which is the part that is changed, and the products, which is what is left over. The reactant side and the product side must have the same quantity of each element. If they do not, the equation must be balanced by using coefficients. Mole ratios can be found by using these coefficients. Mole ratios are conversion factors and can be used to found the amounts of the reactants and the products in a chemical reaction.…

Abstract: The objective of this experiment was to synthesize aspirin from salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. The general theory behind this experiment was to study the synthesis of a drug from organic materials. During the experiment, esterification had occurred between reactants salicylic acid and acetic anhydride. Then, phosphoric acid would catalyze the reaction and water would be added to decompose the remaining acetic anhydride. Through the process of filtration, aspirin crystals were collected and separate from the liquid acetic acid-water solution.…

Acetaminophen, a popular active ingredient in many over-the-counter drugs, is used as a pain reliever and a fever reducer. It is synthesized from the reaction between a carboxylic acid and an amine; thus, acetaminophen contains hydroxyl and amide functional groups.1 C6H7NO + C4H6O3 C8H9NO2 + C2H4O2 This reaction is commonly known as a condensation reaction.…
