The Articles of Confederation provided a short term government but not one that was long lasting, or had the ability to be long lasting. America's first constitution was very much flawed and was going to be very difficult to fix. The purpose of the Articles was to be able to have a government right after America declared independence from Britain. The authors of the confederation were very much scared of a strong central government because of what Britain had done before. The Articles of Confederation’s first flaw is that it did not give congress hardly any power. For a country to run properly and fairly, it needs to have a strong central government. When the government is not given enough power, States start to branch off and try to be …show more content…
This is very important because the states needed to be protected by the military. Not having a military (or a say in the military) could lead to many more problems down the road. If each state has its own individual militaries, that could leave opportunities for wars and even having one state fighting another country without the help of the rest of America. This caused so many conflicts because it is such a diverse issue. Some states were richer than others while some states were already completely in debt. This doesn’t seem like a problem that you can fix just by saying we need a fair tax for everyone because states did not have the same amount of money. My problem with the government not being allowed to tax the states is that America was in so much debt and without the states paying taxes, and no federal currency they had no way to pay off the
