When the Constitution Convention met they had representatives pick George Washington as the leader over the Convention; Washington pushed the representatives to test the Constitution to make sure that it was not like the Articles of the Confederation and if they found any problems with it that they find a solution that would hold up to any kind of test put against it. Even with his mandate that they find any hole in the Constitution and a solution for it he still got into an argument once during the Convention. Washington though was a very effective leader during the three months it took for them to create the Constitution. There were three components that were critical when it came to the Constitution’s arrangement: the Republic and its development, federalism, and the ability to detach forces. The prime mandate in the new Constitution was that the national government be sustainable and not feeble and weak while the states would work like autonomous nations.
