Art Show Evaluation

As I prepared for my final art show my feelings were tangled. Set up was an overwhelming mix of excitement and stress. The sleepless nights that lead up to the event were not helping to settle my emotions. As part of my preparation I had to decide what to wear. This decision was something that I planned long in advance. “And the Good Samaritan, he's dressing, he's getting ready for the show” (Dylan) One of the most important parts of the show were the last minute preparations, these include dressing and assembling all of the small pieces. My second semester started with the planning of my outfit for the show. What I wore needed to match my art and become part of the display. In the past several of the outfits have extended off of the wearer and onto the wall. The idea behind the outfits preparation is that there is confidence instilled in the clothing. Getting dressed up allows for a slight identity change that consists a large dose of confidence. …show more content…
Standing in front of hundreds of people can feel like all of your flaws are on display. A change in outfit allows you to alter your identity. This is similar to the ideas that are presented in Watchmen. I have never thought much about superheroes, but they are artists. They change their appearance and solve problems. “I’ve heard all the psychologists’ theories […] but what it comes down to for me is that I dressed up like an owl and fought crime because it was fun and because it needed doing and because I goddam felt like it” (Chapter A.5). Like this quote from Watchmen a change in identity doesn’t always require a reasoning. Dressing up for the art show isn’t required but it certainly changes

Public art is all around us, and when you take a moment to look around you’ll find some amazing pieces. While walking around downtown there is always one mural that catches my eye every time. Located on the back side of the Burton Cummings Theatre (formerly known as the Walker Theatre, 364 Smith Street.) is an untitled piece by Winston Leathers (1932-2004). Maybe it’s the vibrant colours, or the fact that I spent just over 14 hours waiting outside the theatre two years ago waiting to see my favourite band perform. Either way, I can’t help but do a double take when I happen to walk by.…

When I saw it in person, I knew it was perfect: a strapless, fitted gown with rhinestones across the top and a mermaid bottom,” (Kyle 16). Taya using imagery at this moment really lets the readers, especially the girls who know a good bit about wedding dresses, to visualize what her dress was like. This allows the reader to feel connected to that part of the story and feel like they were at the wedding as she was talking about it. Taya also writes, “The bagpipers began to move, the tap of their shoes on the concrete apron echoing loudly. The cadence centered me.…

Clothing in 1911 was a huge deal, and the more ruffles one had on one dress made one wealthy, but if one had none or very little one were considered poor. This goes to show how clothing symbolize who one were. Lots of ruffles equaled lots of money but little ruffles equal little money. In the book Uprising by Margaret Haddix, the clothing that everyone wore had a statement.…

Horror is a film genre designed to obtain a negative emotional reaction from viewers such as fear, panic and fright while captivating and entertaining us at the same. The conventions of horror films are an agreed set of standards enshrined within the cinematography, characters, mise-en-Scene, sound and location of the film to create a sense of fear and vulnerability for the audience to experience. I.e.: High and low, angle shots, dark locations, exaggerated diegetic sound to increase tension, dark colours for psychological impact etc. I will be writing about The Babadook. The demographic audience are teenagers aged 15+ of both genders because there are graphic and bloody images as well as similar aspects that would appeal as entertaining for teenagers and adults of both genders.…

Today I try on my wedding dress. Maura and I walk across the black tarmac to the all-glass storefront, Dana's Bridal Warehouse scrawled in giant letters on the glass. I regret wearing a black t-shirt today. Even in the short distance from the car to the door, the dark material absorbs the summer sun and instantly makes my armpits and under my boobs sweat.…

For women, fashion is a display of national character and patriotism and was used as a tool for resistance. At the beginning of the war, women were not seen as foot soldiers of the resistance. These German soldier they weren’t used to seeing women as peers on the battlefield. These women could inconspicuously transport information, leaflets, and anything the resistance needed, much easier than her male counterpart could. In 6th grade my history teacher split the whole class up into groups of threes. He then gave each group a person in history to do research on. After we did the research we were to put that information into a skit and present it to the rest of the class. I remember my group had Henry Ford. We all worked together making a script and practicing our performance.…

All dreams begin with a “first,” and for the Fine Arts Department at Copperas Cove High School, its First Fine Arts Gala became a reality Saturday, March 26 at Lea Ledger Auditorium to a crowd of about 120. The gala was a collection of acts, like dance, singing, instrumental ensembles and acting with event organizer and senior Mirko Enriquez finding it a challenge getting the right mix of acts together. “We wanted to showcase the different Fine Arts groups and make this into a formal event to present fine arts in the best way possible,” Enriquez said. The show began with CCHS students, Dylan Olmstead and Kameron Gaskin, as the MCs who also performed magic tricks in between the acts. The abundantly talented young performers flowed from one act to the next…

“The Pro-Social Mission” If you think about what a superhero means to you, many answers may fly around like bravery, strength, or power. Very rarely do you ever hear about what exactly makes a superhero, super. In my opinion, I believe it is this pro-social mission that keeps them going on the never ending battle against the fight with evil. A hero can have as many powers or identities that they want to have, but the most important component of their being is that they have a specific goal in mind that will work for the greater good of not only the world, but the entire universe. These other two qualities, power and identity just reinforce who the superhero is.…

The basic facts that I have given in my general application are only the facts that have been written down and kept record of. They don’t tell you who I am as a person, nor do they tell you if I would be a good candidate for your school. Hopefully, in this personal testimony of mine, I would like to explain some of the reasons why you should consider me as a student that is right for your school. I would first like to start off saying that your school is at the top of my list, as well as many others. I know that I am a perfect candidate for FIT as I have learned many great things in high school and at the community college I attend that will benefit me on my journey as I go to transfer to a four year University of my choice.…

T-shirt or shirt, jean or pant, tie or no tie, these are among the hardest decisions to make. Some students tend to like being dressed up, despite the fact that they are just going to a regular school day. They ought to wear fancy clothes, colorful dresses, in which they need to check once or twice inside the closet until they have their preference, ending up being late to school. As the saying goes, rather than paying our time looking at our wardrobe, we can literally put on the school uniform to save time, dressed formally just like their peers. Indeed, in comparison to regular school uniform, those luxurious clothes are much more expensive.…
