The Army Reserve Component (RC) is, in general, required to meet the same training requirements of the Active Component (AC) but must do so with less time available. The RC must also be proficient in their Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) and remain qualified for those MOSs. Due to a lack of the necessary required training days needed to meet obligatory sustainment mandates, the RC is not as welled trained or proficient as they could be. These options equal up to unnecessary training dollars being expended to train new 68Ws and the possible reclassification of the unqualified Soldier, who now faces an uncertain future. The Army Medical Department of the U.S. Army (AMEDD) Center and School has recently removed the RCs capacity for meeting their own training requirements. This means that RC Training Commands no longer have the ability to deploy Mobile Training Teams (MTT) to perform Table I-VII training or Table VIII skills …show more content…
This ensures that each Soldier is afforded appropriate and timely training to remain a valuable and qualified part of the fighting team. Commanders and trainers must be able to provide viable solutions for complex training issues with regard to the RC. This not only provides readily available forces, it also establishes regular training goals, reliability, and predictability of the training cycle.
One solution would be reaching out to AC facilitators that may be geographically accessible for RC Soldiers. This not only helps establish a relationship between AC and RC units but could help reduce the total cost and expenditures for training. This provides an additional asset to the RC wherein the Soldiers can receive viable, up-to-date training using the latest technologies and equipment. It provides a viable, and in many ways, concrete solution without spending additional travel and per diem
