Commitment is to pledge yourself to a certain purpose of the line of conduct and practicing your belief consistently. Doing the things that cadets and officers do takes courage and guts because they are doing it for something bigger than themselves and they commit themselves to the country and all the citizens within our borders. Leaders who are committed to a cause or effort truly believe that is important and they show up, follow through and stick with it. The more people who are committed to a cause, the greater the momentum a leader can generate to get the job done. Commitment is the backbone of a group and it is what gives a group its strength. The more committed people there are, the more effective they are in influencing others. If a whole group acts with determination and commitment, great numbers of people will really pay attention. Also, leaders who are committed are the ones who do not take discouragement- they do not give up. They set an example for those who do not have the confidence or experience to go through the hard times and hold out for the rewards of success. Commitment fosters camaraderie, trust, and caring-the stuff a group needs to keep it going for the long run. Finally, having passion is integral in becoming a superb leader. A leader who has passion is driven forward to do a task that is given to them. If a leader wants to see their vision and goals being accomplished, then the leader's passion is the fuel that drives the production and results of the vision.
