Perhaps the most important reason for not allowing advertising on school campuses would be that this could expose students to products that are harmful to their bodies. Should students be tempted to enter to win a product by filling out information about themselves in order to enter? Of course all students would love to win a prize or free product. Others may say that contests are a fun way to engage students in the social aspect of school so why not have a little fun and possibly win a prize at the same time. Well, the problem with this is that advertisers use the demographic information gathered during these contests to target the appropriate audience to sell their products to. One school district used the Boxtops Program as a way to earn extra money for their school.
