Arguments Against Racism

Racism is one of the strongest area that seems to be an issue in cultural proficiency. Race is an issue that has been affiliated during the time of slavery and immigration, which provides an unequal power and privilege of the minority. Koppelman stated "In rejecting them because of race, the majority also rejected the cultural gifts each group could have shared." (pg.99) That is true, because those people who reject people by their race, loses the opportunities to learn from them. Ethnocentrism believes that superiority of one's own race, nation or culture and not suggesting the minorities. People who plan to succeed in life is already organized and stable, but what if you have failed than is there anything that you can fallback on and bring yourself up again. It is easy to gradually proceed on, but when things hit rock bottom it will be hard to get back up. Others need to work hard and be determined that they will succeed one day, but until that comes it will be a rough ride. Aversive racism allows a person to maintain their positive self-image, similar to colorblind racism but it doesn't relate in any conflict that justify against other racial groups. Through my life experience, I have been surround by many different race. I don't precede myself as a person who is prejudice but I have maintain my positive image to communicate with others. I can be prejudice at time, but my intention is not towards that specific race as a whole but towards an individual.
