During the study, they saw that the average annual weight gain was lowest among individuals who had changed to a diet containing fewer meats, while the meat eaters having the highest BMI and vegans the lowest (Comparison of Nutritional Quality). While veganism was spreading out through the rest of the world America was still trying to wrap its head around going without meat. People thought it was crazy to believe you could go without eating meats or other animal products. People were dead set on finding reasons to be con vegan. They conducted studies on rats to see how the vegan diet affected them. The studies showed that rats grew best when fed a combination of plant foods whose protein patterns resembled that of animal foods (The Curious Case of Campbell’s Rats). Why did drinking the milk from a cow become a thing and why don’t we drink the milk of our lactating cat?
