There have been many times that I have tried to persuade a group of people to a particular person to agree with on subjects ranging from petty things like where to eat to important topics like religion, But I’m not going to get that heavy so early in the course but I’ll start with something light. This is how I tried to persuade to my group of high school friends why the Beatles are/were the best band.
The main point of my argument was that the Beatles are the best band of all time based on what they accomplished in barely one decade to popular music and their lasting effect on musicians to this day. I believe that I wasn’t successful because of how I argued my point to my friends since all my friends were listening to either EDM or Rap which doesn’t include the type of instruments played or the vocals that would have been affected by what the Beatles had done. This negatively affected my argument because the points I was making had no influence on the music they were listening to which weakened my original point of how influential the Beatles were since it had a negligible impact on their favorite genres of music. Another mistake that I feel like I made was how I came up with the argument, because there wasn’t really any support to the words I was saying like how I said that the Beatles were influenced to other generations of musicians now I know there are interviews that I could have showed my classmates but in school I had no tangible evidence to show, it was just my word against their beliefs that the Beatles were just a band who are severely overrated and I had no way to influence them enough to agree with me fully.
